Happy Holidays!

The Bitches are taking a hiatus for the holiday season to eat a lot of food and fret over outfits. We'll be back next week with a post on recycled/upcycled fashion. Until then, mucho smooches to you all, enjoy the warmth of the season with friends and family, and don't forget:

JUST SAY NO TO THE DECORATIVE HOLIDAY SWEATER!

We're not kidding. We don't care if you ARE being ironic.
Don't do it.

Okay, okay, if you're THIS guy, you can do it. This guy, he could wear fUggs on his head, we wouldn't kick him out of the party. Although, our husbands might have something to say about that.
Stooooooopid husbands.

You're right about the sweater in the 1st picture. I'm starting to get dizzy from all of the gayness.

Merry Christmas Bitches.

haha! I'm from Michigan and it is the LAND of the Christmas sweater and jingle bell earrings (that light up) and futzy little women that say "Looks like rain" while leaving Michael's craft stores stomping in their pink crocs to their huge F-350 pick ups! Did I paint a clear enough picture for you?

But really, the sweater is only a holiday step up from the Goomba track suit that is de rigueur ALL YEAR LONG in Michigan.

Thank CHRIST I live in Miami Beach where the girls make excuses to wear fashionable boots and no one wears these abominations! (after Sydney, this is one of the most "free" fashion places I've ever lived! "Free" meaning showing a LOT of skin!)

Enjoyed coming to this blog this year ladies, keep up the good work, BITCHES!!
xoxo

Uh...it jes' now hit me! I mean--get it?--that whole childish tacky oochiegoochie sweater thang was the harbinger of obamanation! WHO else would wear that crap (Aunty!!) but the useful airhaids that believe in hopenchange? When we saw the first stirrin's of tacky Christmas sweaters (an halloween and fall, an' spring) why din't we squash it right thar'?

From my understanding, the Christmas Sweater wearers are firmly in your camp, Aunty!

Besides, I thought this blog was about snarking on bad fashion, not politics?!

Aw now La Diva, doan be miffed wif' poor ole hidebound, uptight, prudy Aunty. I cain't hep it much. Evertime I try to loosen up I git the hives.

GB ain't no hero of mine--he's jes' a grandstander in the mold of a Michael Moore on the left..an anyhoo, that sweater warn't a third grade pictorial of the season.

as fer snarks on bad fashion--well now, in some cases doan fashion IDENTIFY a person's politics? I cain't recall seein' many conservatives wif' pierced orifices.

First of all, Goomba Tracksuits? Bwahahahahahaha! I know EXACTLY what you mean. Shudder. It's pretty bad all over the country. Can't step on an airplane without seeing it. Double shudder.

"Every time I try to loosen up I git the hives." Double bwhahahahaha!

Seriously, though, you both raise interesting questions about the junction of fashion and politics. Although, I wouldn't rule out pierced orifices or tattoos for that matter. One of my very best buddies is head to toe tats and piercings and his politics are as conservative as it gets. As for Moi, I was born clutching a "Barry Goldwater for President" button and you should have seen me circa 1979 :o)

As for GW Bush. Nope. Not a conservative. But, a rather natty dresser.

I just couldn't resist the GB link!!! hehe! It was too perfect for the post! (It was for Glenn Beck, not George Bush, Moi, did you see the link?! I posted cuz of the title! tee hee!)

RE: Politics and fashion, I am thinking of my girlfriend who is the ultra-conservative evangelical Christian Republican and her daughters with their piercings and tattoos! Hmmmm.....her type would have "looked down" upon girls with tats and piercings in a not too distant past.

It also makes me giggle that this same girlfriend goes topless and wears a bikini thong to the beach. In St Maarten of course, NEVER Miami Beach, where she might run into someone who knows her!

I don't think we can assume anything from appearances anymore as the "alternative" has gone main stream!

In any case, we all agree: CHRISTMAS SWEATERS BLOW GOAT!

Oh, and one more thing regarding politics in fashion: fur!!! Leather vs. man made! Sweat shops in L.A. for Bebe fashions and overseas for Nike! Crikey, I can see an entire snarky blog post on the subject!

Moi, there is a link for Goomba track suits and on my reply to Aunty. If its in colour, you can click on it! x

ah...now thas' one thang that is a definite fashion/ politics question: child labor sweat shops.

Moi, I wanna meet your tatty friend! An
La Diva's thonged evangelista--ho! Life is a hoot.

Ah, now I see the link. I couldn't get it to work before. No kidding on the title? Freaky.

Yes, different strokes for different folks. EXCEPT:

No crocs.
No fUggs.
No Christmas sweaters.

On those, I think we can agree!

Oh, and no one under 18 should shop at Charlotte Russe. Four hours with my niece today in Pac Sun, Charlotte Russe, and Aeropostale, and ladies, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Aunty Belle said...

how old is niece?

Doan think we have no Aeropostale. We have Anthropologie.

moi said...

She's 16 so she gets a pass. Anthropologie is fine for anyone of any age. Sort of Boho-ey, shabby chic fun at grown up prices. But Aeropostale is geared towards a tween to teen crowd. And the over 20 women who still want to reside there.
